Temuera Morrison Talks Attack of the Clones: “I Just Had So Much Fun”

Jango Fett actor recalls his time working on the set of 'Attack of the Clones'

It’s been nearly twenty years since the notorious bounty hunter and “simple man” Jango Fett made his big screen debut but New Zealand actor Temuera Morrison still has fond memories of his time working with George Lucas on Attack of the Clones.

Morrison, who is currently whooping stormtrooper ass on the hit Disney+ series The Mandalorian as Jango’s unaltered clone son Boba Fett, was recently interviewed by Dave Itzkoff for The New York Times. In his interview, he talks about his latest role, his meeting with series creator Jon Favreau and executive producer Dave Filoni, the way he incorporated his Maori cultural background into his portrayal of an older, battle-hardened Boba Fett, and reminisced about his time working on the prequel trilogy.

When asked about his time on the set of Attack of the Clones, Morrison replied “I just had so much fun. I think I might have been killing George [Lucas] because I’d be singing on set, playing around with the weapons and wearing the outfits. I think I had too much fun. But I thought, man, if I get another opportunity to do this, I’m going to really get into it and do the best job that I can.”

Although he admits that Jango’s journey in the 2002 film was cut short (no pun intended), Morrison credits Lucas with helping him launch his Hollywood career and bringing him into the Star Wars family. Morrison went on to lend his voice talents to Commander Cody and other clone troopers in 2005’s Revenge of the Sith and has voiced both Fetts in numerous video games and other media.
